Frequently Asked Questions
Which fuels are compatible with the STEAMJET series?
Our boilers are highly versatile. They can be configured for:
- Liquid Fuels: HSD (Diesel), LDO, or Furnace Oil.
- Gaseous Fuels: Natural Gas (PNG), LPG, or Biogas.
- Dual Fuel: Equipped with burners that can switch between oil and gas based on availability.
What is the difference between an oil-fired and a gas-fired boiler?
The main difference lies in the burner and fuel supply system. Gas-fired boilers generally burn cleaner and require less maintenance, while oil-fired boilers are preferred in remote areas where gas pipelines are unavailable.
Can I convert my existing oil-fired boiler to gas later?
Yes. With our modular design, you can upgrade or replace the burner assembly to switch from oil to gas if a pipeline becomes available at your facility in the future.
Are these boilers environmentally friendly?
Yes, especially the gas-fired models. Gas combustion produces significantly lower CO2, NOx, and SOx compared to solid fuels. Our burners are designed for "Low Excess Air" operation to minimize emissions.
What is the efficiency of your Oil / Gas Fired Boilers?
Our STEAMJET series achieves high thermal efficiency, typically between 85% and 89%. By integrating an Economizer, efficiency can be boosted to over 92%.
What does "Fully Wet Back" design mean?
It means the reversal chamber (where hot gases turn) is completely submerged in water. This design maximizes heat transfer and eliminates the need for heavy, high-maintenance rear refractory bricks used in "dry back" models.
What is the steam generation capacity of the STEAMJET?
We offer a wide range from 500 kg/hr to 20,000 kg/hr (20 TPH). For smaller, instantaneous requirements, we also provide "Coil Type" steam generators.
How long does it take to generate steam from a cold start?
Thanks to the optimized furnace design and high-performance burners, our boilers can reach full working pressure in approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
What working pressures are available?
Standard industrial models are designed for 10.54 kg/cm² or 17.5 kg/cm². However, we can custom-manufacture IBR units for high-pressure requirements up to 25 kg/cm².
Which industries use the STEAMJET series?
They are the "gold standard" for industries requiring clean, high-pressure steam:
- Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare: For sterilization and clean-room HVAC.
- Food & Beverage: For pasteurization, boiling, and CIP.
- Chemicals: For jacketed reactors and distillation.
- Textiles: For dyeing, curing, and finishing.
Is this boiler suitable for "Clean Steam" applications?
Yes. When paired with high-quality stainless steel internals or secondary heat exchangers, our boilers can produce the high-purity steam required for the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors.
What safety features are standard at Balkrishna Boilers?
Every unit includes:
- Flame Safeguard System: Automatically shuts off fuel if no flame is detected.
- Dual Safety Valves: Prevents over-pressurization.
- Low-Water Cut-off: Shuts down the burner if the water level drops to a dangerous level.
Is IBR certification mandatory for these boilers?
Yes, for most industrial capacities in India. We provide IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations) certified units that come with all the necessary folders and certificates for government inspection.
How do I maintain the burner?
Monthly inspections of the nozzle, ignition electrodes, and filters are recommended. At indianboilers.com, we provide AMC (Annual Maintenance Contracts) to ensure your burner remains calibrated for peak efficiency.
Does this boiler require a large chimney?
A chimney is required to discharge flue gases safely above the roofline. However, because oil/gas burns cleanly, the chimney diameter and complexity are much lower than those of coal or wood-fired boilers.
What is the price of an Industrial Oil / Gas Fired Steam Boiler?
Pricing depends heavily on capacity and certification. As of 2025, standard prices are:
- 500 kg/hr to 1 TPH: ₹1,000,000.
- 2 TPH to 5 TPH: ₹15,00,000 – ₹35,00,000.
- 10 TPH and above: ₹50,00,000+.
- Prices vary based on IBR vs. Non-IBR and the choice of burner brand (e.g., Riello, Bentone).
Why is an Oil/Gas boiler more expensive to run than a Biomass boiler?
Liquid and gas fuels have a higher per-unit cost than agro-waste. However, they offer much higher efficiency, zero labor for fuel handling, lower maintenance costs, and zero ash disposal issues.
What is the typical ROI for the STEAMJET series?
The ROI is seen in reduced downtime and superior steam quality. For industries where product quality is sensitive to temperature fluctuations, the precise control of an oil/gas boiler pays for itself within the first year.

We recently installed a 2 TPH Oil Fired STEAMJET from IndianBoilers, and the results have been outstanding. The 3-pass wet-back design is highly efficient—we’ve seen a noticeable drop in our fuel costs. What impressed me most was how quickly it reaches full working pressure (under 25 minutes). If you’re looking for a reliable, high-dryness steam source for industrial use, this is the one to go for. 5 stars for the German-engineered burner technology!
